How are you managing? How is everything? Are you walking any better or will continue to need the cane?

Hi David and John. Thanks for asking about me. Things are going along OK I don't use a cane but a three wheeled walker. Haven't been driving because my car is dead and has been for over a year now and even if it was running, I wouldn't get out much anyway. Don't really have the money to get it running again, so thankfully, my sister does my grocery shopping and pick up my meds for me. Very thankful I live in a condo community where I have quite a few really good friends so at least I do have contact with the outside world. Hoping you guys, and you too, Tim, have a nice holiday weekend. Peggy

Glad to hear from you Peggy, and glad you live around a lot of friends.  I'm glad too that your sister is so much help.  The grandson's car is dead too.  He's been borrowing Cheri's car and using his girlfriend to get back and forth to work until he gets another one.  John

How is the area there doing Peggy? Is the Chicago crime spilling over as far as where you are? I hope not.

How is Woodfield? Out here, over the time since I have been here so many stores have closed, it is so sad. The Dillards closed a long time ago, then the mall all but died, leaving just about only the JC Penny. THen THey closed the mall and the JC Penny and the mall has since been razed. The Macys closed in Helena (closest is Bozeman now), the Hastings Books closed, as well as Shopko, Kmart, Sears Hometown store. It is so sad watching what is happening to retail these days.

David, there is crime in all of the Chicago suburbs, but nothing like in Chicago. And occasional carjacking or robbery is about it for Schaumburg and Palatine, but you still have to be cautious and aware of your surroundings.

There are so many retail vacancies, And of course Schaumburg has all the ones that have claimed bankruptcy so there are a lot of big box vacancies.

Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale and Springhill Mall in West Dundee closed this year and I believe they are going to tear them down. Woodfield, which is only 2 miles from me is doing a booming business and is always crowded. I haven't been there in years. It's just too big and when you get to be my age, you really don't need more stuff to try to find a place for. Peggy
